CT-2008
CT-2008 is a peptide antagonist of the RANTES-PF4 heterodimer which normally enhances leukocyte recruitment causing inflammation. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that CT-2008 can slow the development of plaque in atherosclerosis-susceptible murine models and reduce cell infiltration of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the damaged lungs of mice exposed to cigarette smoke. The company believes that RANTES-PF4 antagonists will have applications across a broad range of inflammatory conditions. The company expects to have an IND by the first quarter of 2012.
MIF
Carolus Therapeutics is targeting MIF’s interactions with CXCR2 and CXCR4 by developing highly specific and proprietary agents, including both peptides and monoclonal antibodies, that effectively disrupt this master proinflammatory conduit. Targeting MIF in individuals with manifest inflammatory disease can potentially be used to treat a broad range of human illnesses including both acute and chronic cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular diseases, tissue transplant rejection and cancer. Currently a discovery stage program, the company expects an IND by the fourth quarter of 2012.
