Acute and chronic inflammation is the underlying cause to a wide range of disease states. Inhibition of leukocyte recruitment though the disruption of chemokine interactions could have the potential to treat many of these diseases. Early animal model data suggests efficacy in cardiovascular disease, specifically atherosclerosis, but further data is required prior to selecting a clinical indication. As Carolus Therapeutics’ programs become further characterized, the company will select a clinical development path based on degree of unmet need and probability of success.
